Birtley Groups Galvanizing division has supplied a number of North East Fabricators for the new Lynemouth Biomass project, previously known as Alcan Works.
The old coal-fired plant is being converted into a Biomass fuelled power plant in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The conversion to full biomass electricity generation will result in powering approximately 450,000 homes.
The new power station is expected to produce 2.3TWh of low carbon electricity, thus supporting the UK government’s climate change targets. This complex yet highly coordinated project involves over 5,000 skilled personnel and a nationwide supply chain of the highest expertise.
"The UK energy market is important for EPH and we are proud to have supported the new Lynemouth Biomass plant on their latest project"
