GRAEME HOPPER

MAURICE CULLEN BOXING SCULPTURE

An honourable statue set up by SAND Charity.

Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity and exists to reduce the number of babies dying and to ensure that anyone affected by the death of a baby, receives the best possible care.

To honour those who have lost a child, the charity asked Graeme Hopper to create a sculpture to be displayed in Chester-le-Street, Riverside Park. The sculpture in the shape of a teardrop, encapsulates a beautiful metal tree and delicate butterflies.

Parents and loved ones of those who have lost a child are encouraged to visit the sculpture and in the child's memory, leaving behind a lock with the child's name engraved.

"We were honoured to be asked to work with Graeme to galvanize this lovely piece of artwork. The sculpture is so beautifully crafted and allows those who have lost a child, to seek comfort with family and friends in a place of remembrance. The finished piece of work is a real testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of Graeme and we look forward to working with him in the near future".
